Roach Treatment Aftercare Guide

Thank you for trusting Level Up Home Services to handle your roach problem.
We know these pests are among the toughest and most unsettling to deal with, which is why we don’t just treat — we guide you through every step afterward so you know what’s normal, what’s not, and when to call us back.

Because around here, it’s simple: no long-term commitments — just results.

What to Expect After Your Roach Service

  • The First 24–48 Hours
You may see roaches come out of hiding. Treatments flush them from cracks and voids. This is a positive sign that the products are reaching their hiding spots.

  • The First Week
Activity should decline steadily. Dead roaches may appear near baseboards, behind appliances, or in cabinets.

  • 7–14 Days
You should notice far less activity overall. In heavy infestations, some sightings are still possible. Our products continue working long after application.

  • 30 Days
In extreme infestations (especially apartments or shared housing), multiple treatments may be required due to reintroduction from neighboring units.

DOs and DON’Ts

DO:

  • Keep your kitchen and bathroom as clean as possible (wipe counters, sweep crumbs, remove standing water).

  • Store food in sealed containers. Roaches need moisture and food to thrive.

  • Take out trash regularly, especially at night.

  • Monitor activity and let us know if you see new hot spots.

DON’T:

  • Use aerosol sprays — they only scatter roaches and interfere with our products.

  • Deep clean treated areas for at least 24 hours.

  • Block or remove access to products we’ve placed (gels, dusts, or monitors).

Insider Tips You Won’t Hear Everywhere

  • Why You May See More at First:
Roach treatments are designed to drive them from hiding so they encounter products. Seeing them in the open isn’t failure — it’s part of the process.

  • German Roaches vs. Other Roaches:
German roaches breed rapidly and usually infest kitchens and bathrooms. American roaches (the “palmetto bug”) are larger and often come from drains or basements. Identifying the type is critical to long-term control.

  • Moisture is King:
Roaches can live a month without food but only a week without water. Fixing leaks and drying out damp areas accelerates control dramatically.

  • Neighbors Matter:
In multi-unit housing, roaches don’t respect walls. If your infestation is severe, it may be due to nearby units feeding the problem. We’ll advise if building-wide coordination is needed.

A Special Note on German Roaches

German roaches are one of the most stubborn pests we treat. They reproduce quickly, hide deep in cracks and crevices, and often require more persistence than other species.

One thing clients may experience is what we call the “rubber band effect.” This is when it seems like roach activity is dropping, only for there to be a sudden surge of sightings again. Believe it or not, this is actually normal. Here’s why:

  • After treatment, many adult roaches die off quickly.

  • Their egg capsules (oothecae), however, continue to hatch.

  • When those new roaches emerge, you’ll notice a sudden influx of small, fast-moving nymphs.

  • The good news: they immediately come into contact with the products we’ve applied.

While we understand this stage can be stressful, it’s part of the process toward complete eradication. It’s also one reason why German roach treatments often require multiple services. Each visit is designed to target a different stage of their life cycle, ensuring the population is fully eliminated.

Treatments flush them out of hiding and expose them to products. This is normal and temporary.

Light infestations can be resolved in 2–3 weeks. Severe infestations may take 6–8 weeks with follow-up treatments.

Yes. We use targeted applications designed for safety. Once dry, treated areas can be used as normal.

Only discard food that was left unsealed during treatment. Properly packaged or sealed food is safe.

Multi-unit housing often requires building-wide effort. Roaches travel through walls, plumbing, and shared spaces.
